We choose Atlantic for what we thought would be our last “Eat Out To Help Out” in August and it didn’t disappoint.
This venue and its sister The Anchor Line situated directly above is a homage to the Atlantic Restaurant of 1938. The Anchor line shipping company 🚢 were known for luxury travel from Scotland to exotic destinations, with the nouvelle cuisine of France served onboard.
For Starters I had the French Onion Soup which I hadn’t had in ages. Just Wow! It was very hot, cooked right through but it was super delicious. 😋 A real Winter Warmer so maybe best suited for that time of year but I would definitely have this again, that cheese and crouton were unreal.
For my main I opted for the LA POITRINE DE PORC FARCIE - Smoked honey glazed pork belly, black pudding with date, rosemary & thyme stuffing, creamy mash, smoked pancetta, Toulouse sausage & bean cassoulet, rich onion gravy. The pork was so tender, cooked lovely and I really enjoyed it. The balance of flavours were gorgeous. The only thing I would say is that it’s quite a heavy menu,so definitely suitable for the winter months for a bit of stodge. I would want to arrive very hungry for next time.
Service I found was very polite and efficient, perhaps a little over attentive. The setting I just loved, the lighting and seatings were very cosy and it felt luxurious and intimate. Leaving with £20 off the bill it came to £72 which I thought was really good value. Even at full price i would say it’s inline with what your getting. We would definitely return when we want to eat something that will warm the soul. @atlanticbrasserie
