Food 3/5
Yesterday, some of you guessed right, we went WEST side 🤘🏻 to the seaside town of Largs. Famous for its Nardinis 🍨 , this place gets very busy in the Summer ☀️ months. It was a lovely dry day and we even got the ferry ⛴ over for a few hours to the Isle of Cumbrae (Millport). We had a great walk around there and even met the lovely owners of the 75 year old Joke Shop who were a great laugh! 🤣 @mapesmillport
Beforehand we went to The Lounge on the Largs High Street. We had both been before for drinks but never for food. When you walk in it’s like a country manor with its oak furnishings and cosy fireplace, which the waiter kindly sat us right next to.
The Lunch menu is essentially a Scottish/Gastro Pub affair with some classier options. 🙋🏻‍♂️- I opted for the Cullen Skink as my Starter as I love this dish. When presented, the toast was a little burnt. The Cullen Skink is a salty soup, it’s fish afterall, for me there was too much salt added additionally. It didn’t taste overly fresh in my opinion, like it had been made a day or two before. It was average.
For the main I choose the Beef Teriyaki which was served with chips and salad. The sauce was quite nice but the beef was a little overcooked and chewy. The chips were not home made in my opinion. It wasn’t terrible although again, quite middle of the road.
🙋🏻‍♀️- I opted for the Scottish Scallops which were fresh although served on a massive plate for such a small dish.
My main I had the Satay Curry with Coconut rice which was pleasant.
Overall, we liked it here. The service was very friendly and attentive. This venue is very famous for being a bar/club and that seems to be where it’s strengths lie. They have a very popular terrace which is meant to be fabulous in the summer months. The food has room for improvement. The service and cosy layout is what will bring us back to give it another go. @loungelargs
