Last night was movie night so we went to Cineworld to see “The Gentlemen” at the top of Buchanan St (was hilarious 🤣 go see it) it had been a while since we had been up to this one as we have been enjoying The Everyman & Odeon Luxe at The Quay.
A previous haunt of ours was a Thai restaurant called “Lemongrass” which was across from the cinema which was very authentic & a great place to go for a romantic meal & a few drinks before the movies. This had closed down a fair while ago much to our dismay & we looked over the road to see the space was now a brand new Chinese. We were starving so wanted to try it out.
It’s very bright and colourful from the outside which is eye catching, once inside we are quickly sat down and provided with a Pre Theatre Menu which is only £10.88 (random price 🤣) as well as A La Carte. As it’s January we decide the Pre Theatre is the best option. For Starters I choose the Salt Chilli Chicken Wings which were nice and crunchy but seemed a little pink on the inside down at the bone. My main was not an exciting choice but I simply love Chicken Fried Rice 🍛 it tasted fine but for me it wasn’t a good quality chicken like those cube/strip pieces of chicken you get which almost taste a little processed. It wasn’t dry though and tasted ok, I’ve had a lot better and I’ve had a lot worse, it was average.
My partner had the Chicken Noodle Soup and the Beef Satay Fried Rice. He said his was all pleasant.
For me I can’t help but compare to what it was before which isn’t as special. It’s definitely not as cosy and intimate. The service was friendly but not personal. The food is average but great value for money. I also think the location is good for the cinema so would probably pop back for a bite to eat and try something maybe on the A La Carte.
Give this a try if you fancy a lil' taste of China 🇨🇳 before the movies, just don’t expect to be blown away.
